When and how to use this letter
Submit this letter to the principal or the examination controller, not to the teacher who marked the paper — complaining directly to the examiner usually leads nowhere and can create friction. Frame the request around fairness and process, not around accusing the teacher of personal bias. Asking for a recheck by an independent examiner is a standard, reasonable request that most institutions have a procedure for.
The key to making this complaint credible is evidence, and here is the non-obvious part: gather comparison data. If students in your section scored far lower than parallel sections on the same paper, or if your correct answers match the official marking scheme, say so with specifics. Request a photocopy of your evaluated answer script — many boards and universities allow this — so you can point to exactly which answers were marked unfairly. A letter that says "question 4 was marked zero despite a correct final answer with steps shown" is infinitely stronger than "the checking was biased."
Check whether your institution has a formal re-evaluation or re-totaling procedure and mention that you are willing to follow it, including paying any fee. This shows you are serious and procedural rather than emotional. If the institution has an examination grievance committee, address a copy there as well.
