When and how to use this letter
Request the NOC as soon as you accept the offer, because many companies set a joining deadline and the NOC takes several working days. Apply with the company's offer letter attached; departments will not issue an NOC without proof of a genuine offer.
Understand what the NOC actually says: it confirms your enrollment, your good standing, and that the college has no objection to the internship. It does not guarantee the company, so verify the employer yourself. Unpaid internships should still offer genuine learning, not just errands.
Check whether your program requires the internship to be credit-bearing or a minimum length before accepting, since an internship that does not meet departmental criteria may not count toward graduation. Clarify how attendance will be handled during the internship period.
Keep the issued NOC with your offer letter and submit copies to the company before your start date. At the end of the internship, collect the completion certificate and supervisor evaluation, and file the report your department requires. Students who close the loop properly get faster NOCs next time.
One last tip: read the NOC the day it is issued and check that your name, roll number, and the company name are spelled correctly. A small error can cause the company to reject it, and getting it reissued takes the same long queue all over again.
