Complaint Against Hotel for Poor Service
A hotel stay ruined by dirty rooms, broken facilities, or indifferent staff deserves more than a bad review. This letter lists each problem with dates, demands a partial or full refund, and creates the written record you need if the hotel refuses to act.

When and how to use this letter
The golden rule of hotel complaints is to complain while you are still a guest. Walk to the front desk, describe the problem, and ask for the duty manager's name and a written acknowledgement in the hotel's complaint register or by email. A same-day complaint in the hotel's own records is almost impossible for them to deny later, while a complaint raised a week after checkout is easy to dismiss.
Document everything with your phone. Photograph the unclean room, the broken fixture, or the advertised facility that does not exist, and make sure the photos carry timestamps. If the booking site promised a swimming pool, spa, or sea view that was unavailable, screenshot the listing page as well, because listings change and the advertised amenity is part of what you paid for.
When you write, list each problem separately with dates rather than writing one angry paragraph. Numbered issues with dates look serious and are easy for a manager to act on. State exactly what you want: a partial refund, a full refund, or a complimentary future stay, and give a fourteen-day deadline.
Here is what most guests do not realise: if you booked through a travel platform, complain to the platform too, not just the hotel. Platforms can pressure hotels in ways individual guests cannot, and they keep their own record of the hotel's response rate. If both ignore you, the consumer commission treats documented hotel-service failures as straightforward cases.
