Complaint Against School for Excess Fees
Your school has hiked fees sharply with no explanation or approval in sight. This letter demands the school justify the increase against the approved fee structure and puts your objection formally on record.

When and how to use this letter
Start by asking the school one question in writing: under what approval was this fee increased. Schools in most regions must get fee hikes approved by the education department or a fee regulatory committee, and many increases are imposed without that approval. A school that cannot produce the approval document has already lost the argument, so make this your opening move.
Compare the new fee with the previous year's in a simple table, and list every new line item: development charges, activity fees, or technology fees that appeared without explanation. Vague new charges are where unauthorised hikes usually hide. Keep the fee notice, the previous year's receipt, and all circulars in one folder.
Send this letter to the principal by email with a copy to the school's management, and pay only the undisputed portion of the fee in the meantime. Paying the old approved amount under written protest protects your child's standing while keeping the dispute alive; write on the payment note that it is paid under protest.
The step that multiplies your power: coordinate with other parents. Regulators and education departments respond far faster to a joint complaint signed by twenty parents than to twenty individual letters. If the school retaliates against your child over the dispute, report that immediately to the education department, as penalising a student over a parent's fee complaint is itself a violation in most jurisdictions.
